The Post DB Open Source Project has come to a close. When I launched this, there was a clear need for an Open Source focused blog in this region as we viewed the coming 12 months as a key period in raising awareness of FOSS. The project also provided an interesting experiment in mixing old media -- a weekly column -- with new media -- the daily blog.

The project was fun, educational and generated some great experiences. Unfortunately, circumstances have arisen which make maintaining the Project difficult. This has always been a one person effort and now competing concerns have drawn me away. With the publication of my Mambo book this year, and my acceptance of a clumnist slot with ComputerWorld, I find my time stretched too thinly to do the sort of job I want to do here.

Those of you who wish to read more of my tech coverage can do so on my personal site, RicShreves.net or monthly in ComputerWorld (HK). I also hope to have a second book on the shelves early next year (fingers crossed).

In closing let me express my sincere gratitude to Tony Waltham and the Bangkok Post for their faith in this innovative endeavor and their support. I also want to thank all of you who posted on this site or who sent me emails about the topics. Your comments inspired further thought and kept this interesting for me. Best wishes to you all -- see you in cyberspace!
